I co-taught a class at Duke on sustainability, survival, and living off the grid with students
MacRae Linton, Carina Barnett-Loro, and Lee Miller.
We explored topics ranging from pickling to hunting with a bow and arrow. Brewing beer, foraging,
bee-keeping, wilderness medicine, and other topics were covered.
If you know of any accessible spots where Apios Americana grows or have access to cuttings or plantable rhizomes, please let me know!
If you are interested, get in touch with any of us or look up the syllabus for HOUSECS79-015. There was interest in having the class taught again in 2010 and we would be more
than happy to share materials and the syllabus.
